What Can I Expect During the Powder Brow Healing Process?

The Powder Brows healing process is an emotional roller coaster. It’s important to remember that the look of your brows immediately after the treatment is not the final result. Your eyebrows will be dark and unnatural right after the treatment. This is because most of the pigment is sitting on the surface and your brows need to heal in order for the pigment to settle into the skin. Once they have healed, you may feel your brows appear really light and patchy. That is to be expected and is a part of the healing process. The Powder Brow treatment is a 2-step procedure. The second step is your mandatory touch-up. The touch-up will fix any gaps, patches, or other imperfections that may have appeared during the Powder Brow healing process. The Powder Brow touch-up appointment is there to add more pigment where necessary. Therefore, it does imply breaking the surface of the skin again, and the skin will have to go through another healing cycle. However, the Powder Brow healing process after the touch-up is much less intense. You will most likely experience all the stages, but they will probably be milder and heal faster. Of course, the intensity depends on the amount of work done at the touch-up. If your artist has to go over the whole brows again, the healing may be similar as it was after the initial treatment.

Aftercare

  • Keep the area lightly moist by using bepanthen 4 to 5 times a day for 7-10 days.
  • If a slight crusting texture appears on the pigmented surface, do not force removal by picking or scratching!! (You will remove pigment along with crusting) Brows are not considered healed until all crusting has exfoliated naturally.
  • Avoid washing treated area.
  • If necessary, after 48 hours, wipe treated area with a damp cotton pad to remove any build up that may have been caused throughout the day.

Things to avoid post treatment

  • Makeup. Do not put powder/pencil on the brows until brows have fully healed. (7-10days)
  • Brow tinting for 2-3 weeks following the procedure.
  • Excess sweating can cause infection. It is highly recommended that you avoid high intensity activities for the first 4-5 days.
  • Hot, steamy, long showers. A thin coat of bepanthen over the pigment is a good idea before showering.
  • Direct sun exposure for 7-10 days following the procedure.
  • Chlorine pools, saunas and jacuzzis.
  • Vitamin A products.
  • No Gardening for the first 3-4 days to prevent possible infection.
  • All facials/peels for 2-3 weeks.
  • Lasers can cause pigment colour to change. Avoid the procedure site.
It is advised to wait 1 year after any tattoo to give blood.
